KMT Specialises in manufacturing, maintaining and renewing specialised machines used for the manufacture of automotive components, with a specialist focus on emission control (Exhaust, CAT & DPF) product manufacture.

Our machines are used by leading brand manufacturers building parts for the OE market and the automotive aftermarket across the globe. Our manufacturing and service centre is based in a purpose built facility the Midlands from which we manufacture, service and rebuild and support hundreds of individual machines.

KMT can service, support and re-manufacture most machines from any original manufacturer, including one-off custom designs. We also develop tooling and workholding solutions such as bespoke automated, or semi-automated mandrels, jig and fixturing systems.

We have a range of standard function machines to choose from, but can also design, manufacture and test fully bespoke designs for individual custom operations.

Within this busy and growing Engineering function, we have a requirement for a Purchasing Assistant to join the team.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing purchasing activity for engineering components
  • Working within a Purchasing team
  • Responsible for ensuring all orders and parts are placed and delivered within timescales required
  • Order processing and order administration
  • Processing account opening forms,
  • Order progressing
  • Assisting with stock management and stock control
  • Shipping & Import Tracking & Management
  • Liaising with Vendor Supply Chain
  • Quotation administration
  • Price list administration & conversion
  • Updating and sanitising system information including product information and new contacts
  • Answering incoming calls, dealing with pricing enquiries, queries and transferring calls
  • Progressing enquiries from customers to enable to enquiry to progress to a quote
  • Chase quote status to obtain the order and/or distinguish the status of the quote
  • Dealing with supplier and customer queries to progress the order
  • Negotiating

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will have:

  • Significant purchasing experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Proven track record in delivering cost savings
  • Technical awareness and ideally the ability to read engineering drawings
