Klarius has added more than 1,600 new items to this edition of the Emission Control Catalogue – known in the trade as the exhaust system ‘bible’. The R&D team has been busy over the last year and has developed systems for a range of newer cars requiring replacements for the first time. Gaps have also been filled-in for less common vehicles including Lotus, Chevrolet and grey imports. Klarius has also added a full range of accessories for every exhausts system and a huge range of new CATs, DPFs and CAT fitting kits - all ensuring Klarius products are guaranteed to fit first time – every time.
Extensive research and testing carried out by the Emission Test Facility UK has shown that many poor quality exhausts systems and CATs can cause a huge increase in pollution levels, damage engines and use more fuel. The results show 20 times the level of harmful Nitrogen Dioxide and 50 percent higher levels of damaging Hydrocarbons being emitted by non-type approved exhausts compared to fully type-approved exhausts. The entire Klarius range is type-approved, so this year’s theme for the catalogue is ‘looking after the customer – and the environment’.
In the tests, Klarius exhaust systems and CATs were shown to match, or in some cases exceed, the performance of the vehicle manufacturers’ original parts, and return a 3% fuel saving on a combined test cycle. All Klarius exhausts are manufactured in the UK using the best quality materials, and are all tested and fully type-approved - regardless of whether they are bound for the UK, the European market, or further afield.
Quality counts; this doesn’t just benefit the customer – all Klarius exhausts and CATs come with a two year warranty – it will benefit the fitters and garages too; as they can be confident that products will fit perfectly i.e. quickly, and won’t let the customer down and create a return visit with a problem to sort out.
There are a staggering 11,200 parts referenced in the new Klarius catalogue, including 1,020 Type Approved catalytic converters and 2,185 mountings. The range of fitting kits for CATs has also been extended to help ensure the best fitment is achieved for this valuable item. Klarius figures show that there are still far more CAT failures due to mechanical damage than product failures, impacts due to speed ramps, collisions and withered rubbers on exhausts causing the exhaust to vibrate excessively and hit the road surface are the most common.
Diesel Particulate filters are also a new addition to the range and the failure modes for these seem to be different, often caused by engines running out of Adblue additive, or being driven on short slow journeys too often, preventing the burn-off cleaning cycle from happening before the filter gets too clogged to work, and then needing replacement. The increase in the number of diesel cars and light commercials on the road is adding to the demand for this product and so a range of common items is now included in the catalogue.
The Klarius exhaust range now covers 97 per cent of the EU vehicle parc, and new products for a range of vehicles have been added in this issue. They include applications for: Smart cars, the BMW X3, Volvo’s C70 and XC70, the Citroen C4 Picasso, a range of Peugeots, Nissan’s recent small MPV the Note, the even smaller Toyota Aygo and Volkswagen Fox, plus, Vauxhall’s ‘nearly an estate’ car the Signum. There are also new entries for Chevrolet and Lotus, the Lotus Elise system has been developed for the K-Series powered cars.
