ManufacturingKlarius has three major manufacturing plants in Europe, producing replacement exhausts, catalytic converters and other anciliary equipment. The company Klarius was formed when the Emissions Control activities of ArvinMeritor Light Vehicle Aftermarket Europe were acquired in 2007. Klarius was able to move into profit in its first full year of trading via strategic investments in lean manufacturing, training, new production processes and logistics – with lean manufacturing being the main driver. “We needed to realign our business with our market, to meet its changing demands,” said Klarius MD, Andrew Jones. “This involved analysing and overhauling our existing production processes to reverse a situation where more car part numbers were being introduced, but stock volumes were falling.” “We also streamlined production processes to reduce waste and became a leaner operation. New processes have enabled us to adapt quickly to changes and to the requirements of motor factors. The net result of these changes is that we have achieved a 98.7% delivery rate across our UK factories and are now introducing an unprecedented 100 new references a month compared to 15-20 when we took over the business.”. |
